House Bradbury was a complete renovation project of the original home. The garden was nothing more than a yard space – unkempt scrappy lawn and the odd self-seeded Euryops. An irregularly shaped erf with a steep entrance from street level provided a series of challenges for the design of this garden. greencube overcame this through the introduction of a series of walled terraces and a dramatic sweeping stairway.

A focal point leading off the dining and living room was created in the form of an intimate fire pit with a curved bench seat built into the retaining wall. An abrupt end to the swimming pool by a boundary wall was transformed into an abundant living wall bursting with succulents and perennials. A secret garden space provides an outdoor room carpeted with fragrant mint varieties and screened with vegetation.

Here a restored Victorian ball and claw rolled top bath provides the perfect outdoor bathing space. Planting with tough indigenous varieties has ensured a water wise garden filled with texture form and colour. House Bradbury continues to evolve as a dynamic and dramatic garden.
